Judge Lou Olivera

Lou prosecuted cases in both District and Superior Courts to include murder, rape, and other violent felonies. Lou worked with the Violent Crimes Task Force and prosecuted crimes also as the Arson Prosecutor and Animal Cruelty Prosecutor. He worked closely with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

While he was a prosecutor, Lou also taught Law and Paralegal classes at both Methodist College and Fayetteville Technical Community College in the evening programs which included military servicemembers and military spouses as students.

Lou being trained by Chief Freddy Johnson and the Stoney Point Fire Department during a “controlled burn.” Lou dressed in the “turn out gear” with Chief Johnson while inside the burning home. Chief Johnson taught Lou burn patterns and identifying characteristics of potential arson investigations for prosecution.

Lou receiving the Merit Award at the annual Valor Awards ceremony given by the Chamber of Commerce. The Cumberland County Valor Awards are the highest awards for valor and heroism presented to public safety officials in the Fayetteville area. Lou and Sheriff Deputy Bates saved the life of a person in Judge Olivera’s courtroom.
