Lou always knew he wanted to serve his County in the Armed Forces. He began to further his interest in High School with the JROTC. Lou joined the Army after graduating High School and enlisted as a Counterintelligence Specialist, later attaining his Special Agent credentials as a Department of the Army Counterintelligence Special Agent.
After graduating basic training at Fort Leonard Wood and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Huachuca Arizona, he was stationed with B Company, 519th Intelligence Battalion at Fort Bragg, NC. Lou worked with various capacities to include training with special operation groups and performing intelligence investigations. He deployed with the XVIII Airborne Corps G2 Counterintelligence Section during the Gulf War focusing on counterterrorism and force protection.
After his active-duty service, Lou continued to serve as a Counterintelligence Special Agent in the Army Reserve in support of continental intelligence operations.
In 2013, Cumberland County created the Veterans Treatment Court. Cumberland County has the nation’s highest population of active duty and retired service members. He has been the presiding Judge in the Veterans Court since its inception. The Cumberland County Veterans Treatment Court assists those Veterans involved in the criminal justice system focusing on accountability and providing services to those Veterans in need of substance, mental health, housing and physical recovery from service connected injuries.
